Walworth Primary School

'Listen, Learn and be Happy Together'

Head Teacher’s Message

On behalf of children, staff and governors we would like to warmly welcome you to our school’s website

Walworth is a Primary Day and Residential School which caters for children who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties, including associated challenging behaviours. Many of the pupils that attend the school have additional special educational needs such as autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit and hyperactive disorders (ADHD) and speech, language and communication difficulties.

I feel very privileged to be the head teacher of this wonderful school. We are very much a part an extended community reaching out to families and services within the County of Durham and some neighbouring authorities. Our aim is to ‘Significantly improve the quality of all our children’s lives. ‘

All of the children are known to our staff and all staff members are well known by our children. Our ‘Walworth’ family places a caring and supporting ethos that promotes positive mental health and wellbeing for every child, family and staff member.  We are very proud to be holders of the Wellbeing Award for Schools.

Our professional and caring staff make a strong and dedicated team where every child is treated with respect to ensure that their rights, needs and aspirations, personal preferences and pathways remain central to the school’s organisation.  We want our children to be empowered and to benefit in the future from a meaningful, happy and rewarding school experience. Staff at Walworth are confident and skilled in building positive relationships that help to break down barriers, build self-esteem and challenge disaffection.

We are committed to ensuring that we work in partnership with our families and in collaboration with a wide range of professionals who guide and support us in meeting the individual needs of our pupils. Together, everyone contributes in enabling all pupils to thrive, learn and achieve

We are very proud of our school and are always pleased to welcome visitors. Whether you are a prospective parent and child, a colleague from another school or profession, or a member of the local community please telephone the school and we will be happy to show you around.

We hope that you can find all of the information you need in this website – if not, please do not hesitate to contact us with your query where administrative staff, senior leaders and ourselves are available to assist you.  Please use our Contact Us page.

Thank you for showing an interest.
