Parent Support Advisor

Suzanne Matthews

Walworth is a Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) School which can offer Dads, Mums and Carers support from our Parent Support Adviser (PSA), Suzanne Matthews

Suzanne has worked in the PSA role since 2009.

As well as being rewarding, parenting and caring for a child can be a demanding and frustrating job.

Suzanne is here to offer non judgemental advice and support to Dads, Mums and Carers in any matters concerning your children’s education and development.

Parents and carers are the single most important factor in shaping their children’s wellbeing, achievements and prospects.

Suzanne is available to:

  • Help out with any concerns you may have.
  • Support you and your child during important changes in the school year.
  • Provide help and advice about services that may be of benefit to you including housing, finance and mental health
  • Help and support you and your child throughout growing up and to help you to get along!
  • Provide 1:1 parenting support
  • Offer training and information sessions around attachment and challenging behaviour
  • Encourage parental engagement in school life and learning.

Suzanne also arranges events like coffee mornings during the school term and trips during the school holidays – Watch out for flyers in school bags, notifications on POW’s Facebook site and posters around school!

How to contact the PSA

You can contact the PSA by mobile: 07584703802 or by email s.matthews201@durhamlearning.net

Disability Living Allowance (DLA)

All children at Walworth School can apply for Disability Living Allowance (DLA) regardless of any diagnosis or parents/carer’s income. Suzanne can help you with the application.

Parents/carer’s can also apply for Carer’s allowance. Carer’s allowance is dependant on your income. Whether a parent gets Carer’s allowance or not they can register with Durham County Carer’s. They offer advise, discounts events and much more. See below:
