Welcome to Class 8

This Spring term in Class 8 our Maths topics are multiplication, area, fractions and decimals. Our English focus for the first half term is around a book called, ‘Arne the Viking boy’ and the second half term’s book will be ‘Wellama’. Through these texts children will focus on writing genres such as poetry, information texts and explanation texts as well as story writing. English this term will also have cross curricular links with the History topic of ‘Vikings’, Geography topic of ‘What shapes my world’ and our Science topic of ‘Earth and Space.’ Our second Science topic is ‘Properties and changes of materials’. As well as these, we will be looking at ‘Pop Art’ in Art and ‘Food throughout the year’ in DT. In Computing we will be learning about online safety, simulation and how to compose emails. The first part of Spring term we have an outside coach in teaching us disability sports, then second half we will be focussing on invasion games such as football or basketball. During the second half term as we move towards Easter, the children will learn about why the Last Supper is important to Christians in RE. For music we have an outside music teacher teaching us about singing and composing our own song.
